Preventative Dental Care
Keeping your teeth clean and healthy
is what we do best!
A dental hygiene appointment is much more than removing tartar and stains. Oral health care is a lifelong commitment and our aim is to help you find the balance.
Regular hygiene appointments along with a tailored home care routine can help to prevent gum disease and keep your teeth and gums healthy.
Gum disease is caused by a build-up of bacteria around your gums which irritates the delicate gum tissue causing it to become red, inflamed and bleed. Bad breath is also a common sign of gum disease and can be difficult for patients to manage on their own. If left untreated, gum disease can lead to loose teeth, pain when eating and eventually tooth loss.

Routine Hygiene
Our hygiene therapists are passionate about oral hygiene, and their aim is to help you prevent gum disease and keep your teeth healthy throughout your life.
Each appointment is tailored to your needs and our skilled hygiene therapists use a variety of techniques to provide you with a thorough dental cleaning that is as comfortable for you as possible. If your teeth are sensitive, our therapists can give you a small amount of local anaesthetic to numb the area and help you relax.
After your meticulous cleaning, your hygiene therapist will discuss ways in which you can maintain your oral hygiene at home between visits by using various methods and dental hygiene products.
Keeping up with your regular hygiene appointments help to keep your gums in good health and visits are generally more comfortable for you.
removal of stains
Airflow Therapy
Airflow is a fast and effective way to remove extensive or fine stains that have built up from daily habits such as drinking coffee, tea, red wine and smoking. Using a fine jet of water and non-toxic powder particles, Airflow is an excellent treatment in conjunction with routine hygiene to achieve a whiter looking smile.
Heavy staining from smoking is effectively and easily removed using a combination of ultrasonic cleaning and Airflow.
Deeper Cleaning – Gum disease
Active Periodontal Therapy
For more advanced gum disease our hygiene therapists focus on problem areas and offer a deeper clean to remove bacteria and tartar below the gum.
Patient comfort is a priority during this treatment and we use local anaesthetic to numb the area to minimise any sensitivity you may experience. After your course of treatment we periodically review your gums to assess how responsive they have been to the treatment with a view to returning to routine maintenance.
If your needs require that of a specialist, a referral can be arranged to our Specialist practice for a consultation with our Periodontal Specialist.
